Heathens vs Walukuba head-to-head
Official records show the sides shared their two most recent documented meetings.
Walukuba beat Heathens 12–10 in the 2025 Kyabazinga 7s final before finishing the season as overall national champions.
Heathens responded at the 2026 Rujumba 7s, winning their semi-final 24–14. They later lost the final 26–24 to Black Pirates.
The recent officially documented record is therefore one win apiece, with Heathens winning the latest meeting.
Current form
Walukuba began their title defence impressively by winning the opening Stone City 7s. The Barbarians edged Buffaloes 12-10 in a tense final, with captain Ivan Bulima crediting the team’s experience for helping them manage the decisive moments.
Their performance confirmed that Walukuba remain serious contenders despite relying heavily on young players. Coach Leonard Lubambula has identified energy, recovery speed and fearless decision-making as important qualities within his developing squad.
Heathens responded at the Rujumba 7s, where they beat Walukuba and reached the final. Playmaker Malcolm Okello was named the tournament’s male Most Valuable Player despite Black Pirates taking the trophy.

Players and tactical battle to watch
Heathens’ preparations could depend on the availability of six players training with the national team: Patrick Okello, Nobert Okeny, Julius Oyuk, Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Malcolm Okello and Dennis Etwau.
With their strongest squad available, the hosts have the physicality and individual skill to put Walukuba under pressure. Heathens will seek to dominate contact, slow the Barbarians’ possession and use their playmakers to exploit space.
Walukuba’s best route to victory will be pace, quick ball movement and disciplined support running. The champions cannot afford unnecessary penalties or isolated carries against a physically imposing Heathens defence.
Heathens vs Walukuba prediction
Home advantage, the confidence gained from their Rujumba semifinal victory and the potential return of key national-team players give Heathens a narrow edge. Walukuba’s speed and championship experience should keep the match close, but the hosts are backed to secure another hard-fought win.
Prediction: Heathens 19-14 Walukuba Barbarians
Betting outlook
These are possible match angles, not guarantees:
- Heathens to win: Heathens beat Walukuba at the Rujumba 7s, but Walukuba won both Kyadondo meetings in 2025.
- Both teams to score a try: Both sides scored in three recent meetings, although past results do not guarantee a repeat.
- Over 24.5 points: Approach cautiously. Those meetings produced 24, 24 and 19 points, so recent results do not strongly support this market.
- Heathens to reach the final: Their Rujumba 7s runner-up finish suggests they could contend, but progression will depend on form, squads and the knockout draw.

Watch out
Walukuba have controlled much of the recent rivalry, but Heathens’ Rujumba victory has changed the complexion of this contest. With home support behind them, the hosts are narrowly favoured to win another physical, high-scoring encounter.
