Haaland Scores Twice as Norway Beat Denmark 3-2

Erling Haaland scored twice after Oscar Bobb’s opener as Norway defeated Denmark 3-2 in a thrilling UEFA Nations League match in Oslo.

Erling Haaland scored twice as Norway began their UEFA Nations League campaign with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Scandinavian rivals Denmark at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo.

Oscar Bobb opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Haaland doubled Norway’s advantage four minutes later. Mikkel Damsgaard pulled one back for Denmark with a superb free kick, while Rasmus Højlund equalised on the hour.

Haaland responded with the decisive goal in the 74th minute, completing his brace and ensuring Norway collected all three points from their opening League A Group 4 fixture.

Bobb Gives Norway an Early Lead

Norway made an assertive start and moved ahead after 14 minutes through Bobb.

The Manchester City attacker gave the hosts early control of the Scandinavian contest, rewarding their direct approach. His ability to find space around Denmark’s defensive line provided another attacking option alongside Haaland and captain Martin Ødegaard.

Denmark barely had time to reorganise before Norway struck again.

Haaland scored in the 18th minute, placing Ståle Solbakken’s side 2-0 ahead. The forward’s movement and finishing again demonstrated why he remains Norway’s most dangerous player.

At that stage, Denmark appeared at risk of being overwhelmed. The visitors had struggled to contain Norway’s quick combinations and had fallen two goals behind inside the opening 20 minutes.

Damsgaard Revives Denmark

Denmark responded in the 25th minute when Damsgaard converted a free kick to reduce the deficit.

The goal shifted the momentum and brought the visitors back into the match before Norway could establish complete control. Denmark became more composed in possession and started moving the ball through midfield with greater confidence.

Rasmus Nissen Kristensen was booked in the 38th minute, but Denmark reached half-time trailing by only one goal.

Norway remained dangerous whenever they attacked quickly. However, Denmark’s recovery meant the hosts could not approach the second half with the contest settled.

The official scoring sequence shows Bobb and Haaland putting Norway 2-0 ahead before Damsgaard made it 2-1.

Højlund Brings Denmark Level

Denmark carried their improved performance into the second half and equalised through Højlund in the 60th minute.

The striker’s finish completed the visitors’ recovery from two goals down and appeared to have transformed the match. Denmark now had both momentum and increasing control of possession.

Højlund’s goal also created an intriguing individual contest between two of Scandinavia’s leading centre-forwards. Haaland had made his mark during Norway’s dominant opening period, but the Danish striker responded when his team needed an attacking focal point.

Solbakken reacted with a triple substitution in the 66th minute. Thelo Aasgaard, Andreas Schjelderup and David Møller Wolfe replaced Bobb, Patrick Berg and Fredrik Aursnes.

Those changes refreshed Norway as Denmark searched for a third goal.

Haaland Delivers the Winner

Haaland settled the contest in the 74th minute, restoring Norway’s lead with his second goal of the evening.

The finish completed another decisive international performance from the striker. Sky Sports reported that the brace took Haaland to 64 senior international goals in 56 appearances.

Denmark introduced Gustav Isaksen and Mads Bidstrup as they attempted to respond again. Albert Grønbæk later replaced Damsgaard, while Kasper Høgh came on for Højlund.

Norway protected their advantage despite Wolfe receiving a second yellow card late in the match. The hosts consequently finished with 10 players but survived Denmark’s final pressure to secure the victory.

The figures show a balanced game in which both teams produced 13 attempts and seven shots on target. Denmark had slightly more possession and completed more passes, but Norway were more efficient in front of goal.

Norway’s 11 attempts from inside the penalty area, compared with Denmark’s six, reveal a key difference. The hosts regularly reached more dangerous shooting positions, while seven of Denmark’s 13 efforts came from outside the box.

Haaland Remains Norway’s Decisive Figure

Haaland entered the competition following an influential World Cup campaign and immediately carried that scoring form into the Nations League.

His two goals decided a match in which Norway allowed a commanding lead to disappear. The first underlined the hosts’ aggressive opening, while the second demonstrated his ability to respond after Denmark had gained momentum.

Bobb also produced an important performance. His early goal helped Norway settle, and his movement created difficulties for the Danish defence before he was substituted.

Ødegaard’s creativity remained central to Norway’s attack even though he did not score. The Arsenal midfielder operated between Denmark’s lines and helped connect midfield with the forward players.

Encouragement and Concern for Denmark

Denmark will take encouragement from recovering after conceding twice inside 18 minutes. Damsgaard’s free kick gave the visitors hope, while Højlund’s equaliser demonstrated their capacity to respond under pressure.

Their passing figures and eight corners show that Denmark enjoyed meaningful attacking periods. However, conceding three times despite matching Norway’s total attempts highlights the defensive problems that ultimately decided the game.

Allowing Haaland space close to goal carries obvious risks. Denmark managed to restrict him during parts of the second half but could not prevent the decisive third goal.

What It Means for Ugandan Football Followers

The match brought together several players followed closely by Ugandan supporters of European club football. Haaland and Bobb represented Manchester City, Ødegaard captained Norway, while Damsgaard and Højlund supplied Denmark’s goals.

The five-goal contest also illustrated why score predictions remain uncertain. Denmark recovered from 2-0 down, but Haaland changed the outcome again with 16 minutes of normal time remaining.

Final Thoughts

Norway’s victory was shaped by a fast start and Haaland’s clinical finishing. Bobb and Haaland established a two-goal advantage, but Damsgaard and Højlund demonstrated Denmark’s resilience by bringing the visitors level.

Haaland ultimately separated the teams with his 74th-minute winner. Denmark controlled slightly more possession and matched Norway’s shot total, yet the hosts created more opportunities inside the penalty area and converted three of their seven efforts on target to open their Nations League campaign with a valuable win.
