Elvis Torach Joins AGF Aarhus in Landmark Denmark Move

Ugandan defender Elvis Torach joins Danish champions AGF Aarhus from El Cambio Academy, following James Bogere’s pathway into European football.

Torach becomes the third El Cambio graduate to move to AGF after fellow Ugandans James Bogere and Hamuza Sengooba. He will initially join the Danish club’s Under-19 squad as he adjusts to European football and continues his development.

Torach Completes AGF Move on His Birthday

AGF announced Torach’s arrival on Monday, August 24, 2026, the day he turned 18. According to the NBS Sport report, the defender moves from Masaka-based El Cambio Academy and will begin his AGF career with the club’s U19 team.

Starting with the youth side should give Torach time to understand AGF’s tactical demands, improve his physical conditioning and adapt to life in Denmark without the immediate pressure of senior-team football.

Torach Joins Bogere and Sengooba

Torach follows the route previously taken by Bogere and Sengooba, the first two El Cambio graduates to sign professional contracts with AGF.

Bogere has already demonstrated what the pathway can produce. The Uganda Cranes forward progressed from AGF’s youth structure into the senior team and contributed during the club’s 2025/26 Danish championship campaign.

Having two Ugandan teammates already in Aarhus should help the defender settle, communicate and understand what AGF expects from players arriving through the El Cambio partnership.

Why AGF Signed Elvis Torach

Torach had been monitored by AGF before completing the move. He previously travelled to Denmark for trials alongside Bogere, Sengooba and Isma Magala Mulala, allowing the club’s coaches to assess him within their training structure.

His versatility appears central to his appeal. Torach can operate at right-back, right wing-back or in central defence. A Danish report about the signing highlighted his crossing, forward movement and strength in one-against-one defending.

At approximately 1.85 metres, he also possesses a useful physical profile while retaining the mobility required in wide defensive positions. His international experience and familiarity with AGF’s methods further reduced the uncertainty surrounding his recruitment.

Torach’s Historic FIFA U-17 World Cup Campaign

The transfer represents another important step for Torach, who was among Uganda’s standout performers during the country’s historic FIFA U-17 World Cup appearance in Qatar in 2025.

Uganda reached the round of 16 on their tournament debut and finished 14th among 48 participating nations. Torach’s performances against highly rated international opponents demonstrated his composure, defensive awareness and ability to compete beyond domestic academy football.

The tournament also gave European scouts a clearer opportunity to assess him in competitive matches carrying greater pressure than ordinary youth fixtures. Torach earned 10 Uganda U17 appearances and emerged from the campaign with an enhanced reputation.

Elvis Torach’s Contract Period

AGF confirmed that Torach signed a contract but did not publicly disclose its length or expiry date in the initial announcement.

The player’s contract should not be confused with the 15-year cooperation agreement signed by AGF and El Cambio Academy in 2024. Until AGF or Torach’s representatives publish the dates, claims that he signed a specific two-year, three-year, or longer deal would be unverified.

AGF and El Cambio’s Development Partnership

The cooperation agreement was created to develop young footballers and establish a structured route from Uganda to Denmark. AGF provides technical expertise, assesses potential recruits and gives selected players opportunities to train in Aarhus.

The Kawowo Sports report noted that AGF coaches have worked in Uganda while academy players have travelled to Denmark for training and assessment.

Implications for Young Ugandan Footballers

Torach’s move demonstrates that structured academy development, youth international football and properly organised trials can create genuine opportunities abroad.

For other Ugandan youngsters, his progress highlights the importance of discipline, education, physical preparation and consistent performances. European clubs usually assess players over extended periods rather than signing them because of one match or tournament.

The progress of Bogere, Sengooba and Torach may encourage local academies to invest in qualified coaching, player welfare, documentation and credible international partnerships. Young players must nevertheless remain cautious about false agents or anyone guaranteeing overseas contracts for payment.

Verdict

Torach’s transfer is a significant opportunity, but joining AGF represents the beginning rather than the completion of his European journey.

His versatility, World Cup experience and previous exposure to AGF explain why the Danish champions invested in his development. Joining Bogere and Sengooba should ease his transition, while the U19 team provides a realistic platform for progression.

For Uganda, the move provides further evidence that carefully managed academy partnerships can connect local talent with professional European football. Torach must now convert that opportunity into regular performances, continued improvement and eventual senior-team consideration.
