Rogers Torach discusses settling at CS Constantine, his latest Uganda Cranes call-up and his commitment to supporters and country.
Uganda Cranes defender Rogers Torach Ochaki has described his move to Algerian club CS Constantine as a positive new chapter while expressing pride over his latest national-team call-up.
The former Vipers SC centre-back signed a three-year contract with the Algerian Ligue 1 club in August 2026. He has quickly gained competitive experience, featuring in Constantine’s opening two league fixtures.
Torach is also part of Paul Put’s Uganda squad for four upcoming matches, including two important 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tunisia and Libya.

Torach completed his move after CS Constantine activated the release clause in his Vipers contract. The transfer represents his first professional experience outside Uganda.
The defender’s journey and comments about his new environment were detailed in the Kawowo Sports interview with Rogers Torach.

Encouraging Start at CS Constantine
Torach has started both of Constantine’s opening league matches.
He featured in the 1-1 away draw against CR Témouchent before helping his new club record a convincing 3-0 home victory over ASO Chlef.
Starting those matches demonstrates that the club’s technical team already trusts him. Moving into North African football can demand significant tactical, physical and cultural adjustment, particularly for a young defender experiencing his first overseas transfer.
Torach has nevertheless spoken positively about Constantine’s professional environment, management and passionate supporters. He said he felt welcomed immediately and remains determined to improve while contributing towards the club’s objectives.
Constantine is one of Algeria’s historic clubs, having been founded in 1898. They play at Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui and have won the Algerian championship twice.
Their domestic expectations and experience in CAF competitions provide Torach with an important platform for development.
AFCON Experience Prepared Torach for Algeria
Torach believes his experience at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco helped prepare him for life in Algeria.
The defender was impressed by North Africa’s stadiums, football culture, and passionate crowds. Although he did not know that Algeria would become his next destination, the tournament introduced him to the region’s intensity and expectations.
That exposure should help him manage the pressure associated with playing for Constantine. Algerian supporters demand commitment and consistency, especially from foreign signings expected to strengthen their clubs.
Torach’s physical presence suits the demands of the league, but his confidence in possession is equally valuable. He can begin attacks from defence and execute diagonal passes into advanced areas.
Regular competition in Algeria could sharpen his positioning, decision-making and ability to defend against technically gifted attackers.
Latest Uganda Cranes Call-Up
Paul Put has included Torach in the Uganda Cranes squad preparing for two AFCON 2027 qualifiers and two international friendly matches.
Uganda will visit Tunisia in Radès on September 24 before facing Libya in Hoima on September 29. The Libya fixture will be the Cranes’ first home match in Hoima.
The squad will then travel to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for friendly matches against DR Congo on October 2 and 5.
| Fixture | Date | Venue |
| Tunisia vs Uganda | September 24, 2026 | Radès, Tunisia |
| Uganda vs Libya | September 29, 2026 | Hoima, Uganda |
| Uganda vs DR Congo | October 2, 2026 | Abidjan, Ivory Coast |
| Uganda vs DR Congo | October 5, 2026 | Abidjan, Ivory Coast |
Torach views every national-team invitation as an honour rather than an entitlement. He told Kawowo Sports that he never takes the opportunity to represent Uganda for granted.
The official FUFA squad history also shows that Torach was part of Uganda’s squad for the previous continental tournament.

Competition for Defensive Places
Torach must compete with several established defenders for a starting position.
Put will assess form, fitness and tactical suitability before selecting his centre-back partnership. Torach’s recent club minutes strengthen his case because international defenders need regular competitive football.
His familiarity with North African conditions could also be useful against Tunisia. The atmosphere, tactical discipline and pressure expected in Radès will resemble some of the challenges he encounters in Algeria.
Torach offers height, aerial strength and composure when distributing the ball. However, he must maintain concentration against opponents capable of exploiting small defensive mistakes.
The DR Congo friendlies will provide another opportunity for Put to test partnerships and improve coordination before future competitive assignments.
From Vipers to the International Stage
Torach developed into an influential defender during his time at Vipers.
He helped the Kitende club compete for domestic honours and earned recognition for his ability at both ends of the pitch. His spectacular strike against Lugazi was named the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League Goal of the Season.
Before establishing himself with the senior national team, Torach represented Uganda at youth level. He captained the Uganda Hippos and contributed to the country’s silver-medal performance at the 2024 African Games in Ghana.
His progression from youth football to Vipers, the Uganda Cranes and Algeria provides an encouraging example for young Ugandan defenders.

Special Message to Uganda Cranes Fans
Torach expressed appreciation to Uganda Cranes supporters and those who have followed his personal career.
He promised to continue representing the country with maximum effort, commitment and pride. That connection with supporters will become especially important when Uganda play Libya in Hoima.
The match gives fans outside Kampala another opportunity to watch the national team. A strong crowd could provide valuable encouragement as the Cranes pursue qualification for a tournament Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.
