Bayern Munich 5-0 Bodø/Glimt: Champions League Report

Bayern Munich defeated Bodø/Glimt 5-0 after second-half goals from Musiala, Kane, Davies, and Olise in their Champions League opener.

Bayern Munich scored five second-half goals to demolish Bodø/Glimt 5-0 and make an emphatic start to their 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign.

The Norwegian visitors frustrated Bayern throughout a goalless opening half at the Allianz Arena. However, Jamal Musiala broke the deadlock immediately after the restart before Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and Michael Olise completed the rout.

Olise scored twice during the closing stages, while Bodø/Glimt defender Odin Bjørtuft was sent off in the 87th minute.

The result extended two remarkable Bayern records: 23 consecutive victories in their opening Champions League fixture and 39 home league or group-phase matches without defeat.

Bodø/Glimt Resist Bayern’s Early Pressure

Bayern controlled possession from the opening whistle, with Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović directing play from midfield.

Luis Díaz produced an early headed effort, but Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin made the save. The goalkeeper also denied Kane as the German champions searched for an opening.

Vincent Kompany’s team continued to push forward, although Bodø/Glimt defended their penalty area with discipline. Several Bayern attempts were blocked, while Olise failed to make clean contact with another promising opportunity.

The pressure increased towards half-time. Kimmich struck the post before Haikin denied both the midfielder and Musiala.

Despite Bayern’s dominance, the teams entered the interval level. Haikin was replaced by Julian Faye Lund at half-time after sustaining an injury.

Musiala Opens the Floodgates

Bayern required only two minutes of the second half to break Bodø/Glimt’s resistance.

Kane’s initial effort was blocked inside the penalty area, but Musiala reacted quickly to the loose ball and directed his finish into the far corner.

The goal was particularly significant for Musiala as he marked his return to the starting team with the breakthrough Bayern desperately needed.

Once behind, Bodø/Glimt could no longer defend as deeply. The developing spaces allowed Bayern’s attacking players to operate with greater freedom.

Kane Extends Champions League Scoring Run

Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage in the 61st minute. Olise delivered a precise free-kick into the penalty area, and the England captain headed beyond Faye Lund.

The goal meant Kane had scored in eight consecutive Champions League appearances. He became only the fourth player to achieve such a run after Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

It was also Kane’s 34th Champions League goal for Bayern in only 39 appearances, according to the club’s official statistical review.

Bodø/Glimt almost produced an unusual response when Andreas Helmersen attempted to catch Manuel Neuer off his line with a shot from near the halfway line. The effort did not seriously trouble Bayern’s experienced goalkeeper.

Davies and Olise Complete Rout

Davies effectively settled the contest in the 77th minute. Bodø/Glimt failed to clear a Bayern corner properly, and the Canadian defender met the loose ball with a powerful strike.

Olise then made it 4-0 six minutes later, curling an excellent finish into the top corner following a pass from substitute Lennart Karl.

Bodø/Glimt’s difficult evening became worse when Bjørtuft was shown a straight red card for bringing down Olise as the Bayern winger advanced towards goal.

Olise exploited another defensive mistake in added time to score his second goal and complete the 5-0 victory.

Neuer and Kimmich Reach Milestones

Kimmich made his 100th Champions League start. He joined Oliver Kahn, Neuer, Thomas Müller and Philipp Lahm as the fifth Bayern player to reach that milestone.

Betting Review for Ugandan Supporters

The successful major selections included Bayern to win, Bayern to keep a clean sheet, over 3.5 total goals, and Bayern to win by at least two goals.

However, the goalless first half illustrates the uncertainty within individual markets. A dominant team can still take time to score, and previous results cannot guarantee future outcomes.

Conclusion

Bodø/Glimt’s disciplined defending delayed Bayern but could not withstand the hosts’ relentless second-half pressure.

Musiala’s breakthrough transformed the match, Kane extended his outstanding European scoring run, and Olise delivered the standout attacking contribution with two goals and an assist.

With five goals, a clean sheet and several individual milestones, Bayern produced an ideal start to their Champions League campaign.
