Barcelona 5-2 Rayo Vallecano
Raphinha and Lamine Yamal scored two goals each as Barcelona recovered from an early setback to defeat Rayo Vallecano 5-2 at Spotify Camp Nou.
Sergio Camello gave the visitors a surprise lead after 12 minutes, but Barcelona responded with two goals in two minutes through Raphinha and Yamal. A Florian Lejeune own goal extended the advantage after halftime before Camello completed his own brace to bring Rayo back into contention.
Raphinha restored Barcelona’s two-goal cushion in the 71st minute, while Yamal completed the scoring with his second goal in the 90th minute.

Rayo Vallecano Take a Surprise Lead
Barcelona started confidently, with Yamal, Raphinha and Anthony Gordon immediately attempting to stretch Rayo’s defence.
However, the visitors struck first following a defensive mistake from Jules Koundé. Álvaro García collected possession on the left and delivered a low pass into the penalty area, where Camello got ahead of Andreas Christensen and finished past Joan García.

Gordon may not have appeared on the scoresheet, but the former Newcastle United winger played an important role in Barcelona’s victory.
His direct running created space for Raphinha and Yamal, while his movement forced Rayo’s defensive line to retreat. Gordon nearly created a third goal before halftime when Koundé finished after the winger’s initial effort, but the move was ruled out for offside.
The England international continued causing problems after the break. His low delivery across the goal was turned into the net by Lejeune, giving Barcelona a 3-1 lead in the 51st minute.
Gordon later produced an excellent backheel during the move that led to Raphinha’s second goal. He was directly involved in two of Barcelona’s five goals and continues to settle impressively into Flick’s attacking system.
Camello Gives Rayo Hope
Rayo refused to accept defeat and reduced the deficit in the 59th minute.
Camello attacked the near post from a corner and directed a clever header beyond Joan García. His second goal made the score 3-2 and briefly changed the atmosphere inside Camp Nou.
Barcelona’s defence appeared vulnerable when Rayo attacked quickly, particularly from crosses and set-pieces. Flick will be pleased with his team’s five goals but may be concerned by the opportunities they allowed the visitors to create.
The match remained competitive until Barcelona’s attacking quality took control again.
Raphinha Scores His Second Goal
With Rayo pushing forward in search of an equaliser, Barcelona exploited the additional space.
Koundé started the decisive move with a long forward pass. Gordon then produced a brilliant backheel to release Raphinha, who maintained his composure and finished clinically in the 71st minute.
The strike completed Raphinha’s brace and took him to five La Liga goals for the season. His goalscoring form has made him one of the early leaders in the race for the Pichichi award.
Raphinha’s contribution went beyond his finishing. He pressed aggressively, moved intelligently and provided leadership whenever Rayo threatened to fight their way back into the match.
Yamal Completes the 5-2 Victory
Rayo continued attacking, but that gave Barcelona additional opportunities on the counterattack.
Yamal completed the scoring in the 90th minute. The winger opened his body near the edge of the penalty area and guided another excellent finish inside the post.
His second goal brought the Camp Nou crowd to its feet and completed an outstanding individual performance.
After failing to score in Barcelona’s opening two league matches, Yamal responded with two goals on a night when his technical quality was impossible to contain.
Adeyemi and Barcelona’s Attacking Depth
Karim Adeyemi was introduced as Barcelona looked to maintain their attacking intensity during the closing stages.
The German’s speed offered another threat against a tiring Rayo defence. His arrival highlighted the depth Flick now has across the front line, with Yamal, Raphinha, Gordon and Adeyemi all capable of playing in multiple positions.
Barcelona also handed a competitive debut to Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim. The preseason top scorer received an opportunity during the final minutes, adding another positive story to a memorable night.

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus was spotted watching the match from the stands.
His presence came amid transfer speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona. No official announcement had been made at the time of the match, but the Brazilian appeared to enjoy the attacking show produced by his compatriot Raphinha and the rest of Flick’s team.
Adding another experienced forward would give Barcelona even greater depth, although Raphinha’s performances as a central attacker have already been extremely convincing.
