Brighton Show Their Fighting Spirit

Brighton’s victory was built on resilience. Conceding twice in the opening ten minutes could easily have ended their cup ambitions, but Kostoulas’ goal before half-time gave them a route back.

Groß then restored parity before De Cuyper delivered an immediate impact from the bench.

For Manchester United, it was a frustrating collapse after an excellent opening. Their inability to protect a 2-0 advantage proved costly as Brighton scored three unanswered goals to eliminate them from the EFL Cup.

Final Verdict

Manchester United 2-3 Brighton will be remembered as a dramatic EFL Cup comeback.

United appeared to have one foot in the next round after Lacey and Mount established a 2-0 advantage inside ten minutes. Brighton had other ideas.

Kostoulas provided the lifeline, Groß delivered the equalizer, and De Cuyper became the match-winner just minutes after coming off the bench. Brighton march on, while Manchester United are left to reflect on a two-goal advantage that disappeared spectacularly.
