Vedat Muriqi continued his sensational scoring streak as RCD Mallorca produced a statement performance to thrash Sevilla FC 4-1 in LaLiga, securing back-to-back home wins for the first time since October 2024.
The emphatic victory at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix not only lifted Mallorca out of the relegation zone but also sent a strong warning to their rivals in the survival race.
First Half: Muriqi Strikes, Maupay Responds
Mallorca entered the match under pressure after losing three of their previous four games, but they started with real urgency. Samú Costa and Muriqi both went close early, while Jan Virgili forced a fine save with a powerful long-range effort.
The breakthrough came when VAR intervened to award Mallorca a penalty after José Ángel Carmona was judged to have fouled Virgili in the box. Muriqi stepped up and calmly dispatched the spot-kick, making it nine goals in eight games for the Kosovo international.
Sevilla responded well and nearly equalised through Akor Adams. At the same time, Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Román survived a heart-in-mouth moment after a wild clearance from Johan Mojica almost resulted in an own goal.
However, Sevilla finally found their way back into the match on the stroke of half-time, as Neal Maupay marked his debut with a stunning angled finish to make it 1-1 following a costly midfield error by Mallorca.

Second Half: Mallorca Turn On the Style
The hosts showed real character after the break. Muriqi was denied twice in quick succession — first by a heroic tackle from Carmona and then by a superb save from Odysseas Vlachodimos.
Mallorca eventually regained the lead when Samú Costa reacted fastest at the back post to convert a deflected cross from Virgili.
Sevilla tried to fight back by introducing Alexis Sánchez, and he nearly made an immediate impact, only for Pablo Maffeo to clear his effort off the line.
That missed chance proved fatal.
Muriqi Seals It, Torre Adds the Icing
Mallorca killed the contest when Muriqi fired a low shot that deflected off Sergi Darder and into the net for his second goal of the night.
Sevilla continued to push, but their best effort — a Gabriel Suazo strike — was comfortably saved. The hosts then capped a dominant evening with a fourth goal, as Pablo Torre’s shot trickled over the line after great work from substitute Mateo Joseph.

What This Means for Both Teams
- Mallorca climbs out of the relegation zone and finally looks like a team with momentum.
- Sevilla extends their winless away run to seven matches, remaining dangerously close to the drop.
Despite still struggling defensively, Mallorca’s attacking form — led by a red-hot Muriqi — could be the difference in their survival fight.

If they maintain this level, survival is not just possible — it’s probable.
