Raphinha scored a hat-trick as Barcelona overwhelmed Racing Santander 7-2 at Spotify Camp Nou to record the best start to a season in the club’s history.

João Cancelo opened the scoring before Raphinha struck twice and an Asier Villalibre own goal helped Barcelona establish a 4-1 half-time advantage.

Racing briefly reduced the deficit through Yassir Zabiri after the break, but Raphinha completed his treble before substitute Gabriel Jesus and Lamine Yamal finished the emphatic La Liga victory.

The result gave Hansi Flick’s side six wins from six league matches and seven consecutive victories in all competitions.

Cancelo Thunderbolt Starts the Rout

Barcelona attacked immediately despite the heavy rain in Catalonia. Their early pressure brought a breakthrough after eight minutes when Cancelo produced a powerful long-range effort that struck the underside of the crossbar before crossing the line.

Racing goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala had little chance of stopping the Portuguese full-back’s strike.

Raphinha doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after being brought down inside the area. The Brazilian confidently converted to continue his outstanding start to the campaign.

Racing responded five minutes later through Maguette Gueye. It was a rare first-half attack from the newly promoted visitors, who struggled to escape Barcelona’s aggressive pressing and sustained possession.

Barcelona restored their two-goal cushion in the 36th minute. Cancelo again tried his luck from distance, but the effort took a substantial deflection off Villalibre and was officially recorded as an own goal.

Raphinha Completes Brilliant Hat-Trick

Raphinha scored his second goal three minutes before half-time after Dani Olmo found him in space. The Brazilian swept a controlled finish past Agirrezabala to put Barcelona 4-1 ahead.

The hosts could have scored a fifth before the interval when Karim Adeyemi was fouled inside the penalty area. Yamal took responsibility, but Agirrezabala guessed correctly and saved the spot-kick.

Racing received unexpected encouragement after half-time. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García had been replaced by Wojciech Szczęsny after suffering an injury, and the substitute made a costly mistake in the 65th minute.

Szczęsny hesitated in possession, allowing Zabiri to take the ball and finish into the unguarded net.

Barcelona responded almost immediately. Adeyemi won another penalty, enabling Raphinha to complete his hat-trick in the 67th minute.

The treble took Raphinha to nine La Liga goals in six appearances, according to the official Barcelona match report.

Yamal Creates and Scores Late Goals

Raphinha received a standing ovation when Gabriel Jesus replaced him shortly after his third goal.

The substitute needed only 10 minutes to make his impact. Yamal delivered an excellent pass into Gabriel Jesus’ path, and the Brazilian directed a powerful finish beyond Agirrezabala for Barcelona’s sixth goal.

Yamal had another effort disallowed for offside but eventually registered his name on the scoresheet in the 89th minute.

Adeyemi accelerated down the right, evaded several defenders and unselfishly passed to Yamal, who calmly completed the scoring.

The teenager’s goal rounded off an influential performance that also included an assist, several dangerous dribbles and a brief spell wearing the captain’s armband.

The official match statistics published by TNT Sports demonstrate the scale of Barcelona’s dominance.

Flick’s side attempted six times as many shots, took all 18 corners and completed more than twice as many passes. Racing converted two of their three attempts on target but could not withstand Barcelona’s relentless attacking pressure.

Barcelona Make Historic Start

Barcelona have now won their opening seven matches in all competitions for the first time in their history.

Previous teams in the 1929/30, 1960/61 and 2018/19 seasons won their first six games but failed to extend the run to seven.

Flick’s team have scored 33 goals and conceded seven during victories over Elche, Athletic Club, Rayo Vallecano, Valencia, Feyenoord, Levante and Racing Santander.

Their six straight league victories have produced 18 points and moved them three points clear of Real Madrid. The defending champions have scored 28 goals in those six La Liga fixtures.

The only concerns from Wednesday’s victory were García’s injury and the two goals conceded. Greater defensive concentration will be needed against stronger opposition, even if Barcelona’s attacking football remains difficult to contain.
