Anthony Gordon scored his first Barcelona goal as Hansi Flick’s side defeated Getafe 3-0 at Spotify Camp Nou to maintain their perfect start to the 2026/27 La Liga season.

Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead before half-time, while Jules Koundé completed the victory after Lamine Yamal’s second-half delivery. Barcelona have collected 24 points from eight matches and remain five points clear at the top.

Gordon Delivers an Immediate Breakthrough

Getafe arrived with a compact defence, but Barcelona required only two minutes to break it. Gordon drove beyond several opponents and scored with a low, deflected effort.

Gordon had impressed since arriving from Newcastle United but had not scored for Barcelona. The breakthrough removed that pressure and forced Getafe to abandon a plan built around protecting parity.

Barcelona circulated patiently and created space for Yamal. Gavi and Eric García tested David Soria, while Getafe struggled to bypass the hosts’ pressure.

Gabriel Jesus Punishes Getafe Error

The second arrived in the 30th minute. Zaid Romero misplaced a pass inside Getafe’s area, and Jesus finished calmly into the bottom corner.

Jesus started instead of Raphinha and pressed energetically. His movement created passing lanes for Dani Olmo, Gavi and Gordon.

Getafe’s only first-half effort on target came from Iván Azón. Joan García saved comfortably as Barcelona denied the visitors meaningful penalty-area opportunities.

Koundé Completes Comfortable Victory

Barcelona managed the second half while retaining attacking purpose. Flick introduced Pedri and Fermín López after an hour, adding fresh passing quality.

The third came in the 73rd minute. Yamal crossed from the right, and Koundé converted from close range. VAR confirmed the goal.

Yamal nearly added a fourth from Karim Adeyemi’s cross, but shot narrowly wide. Barcelona completed a controlled clean-sheet victory before 59,465 supporters.

Flick’s Rotation Shows Squad Depth

Flick’s rotation was another positive. Barcelona began without Pedri, Fermín López and Raphinha, yet their structure remained recognisable. Rodri helped control midfield, Olmo connected play between the lines, and Gordon supplied direct running from the left. That continuity suggests the team can change personnel without losing its attacking identity.

The clean sheet also mattered. Getafe rarely reached dangerous areas, but Barcelona remained alert against direct passes and set pieces. Koundé and Eric García defended the penalty area calmly, while Joan García dealt with the only effort on target. That solid defensive platform allowed the forwards to attack repeatedly without exposing large spaces behind them.

Barcelona vs Getafe Match Statistics

The figures underline Barcelona’s control. Their possession produced 22 attempts, eight efforts on target and nine corners.

Getafe rarely threatened Joan García. Their five-defender system reduced space but could not stop Barcelona’s wide overloads, quick recoveries and individual quality.

Gordon Makes His Barcelona Mark

Gordon’s opener supplied the defining story. The winger brought directness, attacked defenders and supported Barcelona’s press.

His role balanced Yamal on the opposite wing. Shifting towards one winger created space for the other to attack.

One goal does not complete Gordon’s adaptation, but scoring at Camp Nou should increase his confidence.

What the Result Means for Barcelona and Getafe

Barcelona’s eighth consecutive league win matches their best La Liga opening. Twenty-four points and a five-point lead over Atlético Madrid give Flick’s team early control.

Compare the performance with Barcelona’s 3-1 victory at Sevilla and 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano. Their attacking variety spans transitions, possession, pressing and set pieces.

Getafe remain 13th with eight points. José Bordalás must address an attack that produced four shots and one on target. Defensive organisation could not compensate for possession mistakes.

What It Means for Ugandan Supporters

Barcelona’s Ugandan following gained another storyline through Gordon’s first goal. The match also showed Yamal influencing a contest without scoring.

For Ugandan coaches and players, Barcelona’s counter-press provided a lesson: dominance came from technical passing, quick recoveries, and keeping Getafe far from goal.

Conclusion

Barcelona 3-0 Getafe demonstrated Flick’s attacking depth. Gordon delivered his first goal, Jesus rewarded his selection, and Koundé completed a victory shaped by overwhelming possession.

Getafe’s plan collapsed early, and an error invited the second goal. Barcelona will face harder tests, but eight wins provide an exceptional foundation.
