AC Milan secured a dramatic 3-2 win over Atalanta at San Siro, surviving a spirited second-half comeback to claim their third consecutive home win in Serie A, their first in 2026. Ruben Amorim’s side appeared to be cruising at 3-0, but two late Atalanta goals transformed the encounter into a nail-biting Italian football showdown.

For Serie A fans in Tanzania, the five-goal thriller delivered everything: penalties, brilliant finishes, missed opportunities and late drama.

AC Milan Takes Control with Dominant First Half

Milan entered the encounter unbeaten in their previous three competitive matches and immediately demonstrated their attacking intentions.

Christian Pulisic thought he had given the hosts an early advantage in the 13th minute, but his close-range finish was disallowed for offside.

Atalanta responded through Nikola Krstovic, who rounded goalkeeper Mike Maignan but failed to find the target from a promising position.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 24th minute when Relja Obric handled Yunus Musah’s effort inside the penalty area.

Goncalo Ramos confidently converted the resulting penalty, sending Marco Carnesecchi the wrong way to register his second Serie A goal of the campaign.

Milan doubled their advantage just before half-time when Diego Moreira found Adrien Rabiot inside the box. The French midfielder showed excellent composure, cutting past a defender before placing his effort into the bottom corner.

The Rossoneri headed into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead.

Ramos Misses Penalty as Milan Extend Their Lead

The second half began with Milan pushing for another goal.

Samuel Chukwueze curled an effort narrowly wide before Atalanta’s Krstovic wasted another opportunity.

In the 56th minute, Milan received their second penalty after Thomas Kristensen committed a handball inside the area.

Ramos stepped forward again, but Carnesecchi produced an outstanding save to deny the Portuguese striker his second goal.

However, Atalanta’s relief lasted barely a minute.

Mario Gila headed home at the back post following Rabiot’s clever flick-on, extending Milan’s lead to 3-0 and seemingly putting the result beyond doubt.

Atalanta Fight Back with Two Late Goals

Despite trailing by three goals, Atalanta refused to surrender.

Gianluca Gaetano sparked hopes of an extraordinary comeback with a brilliant touch and finish inside the penalty area.

The visitors continued applying pressure, and their persistence paid off again in the 81st minute.

Raoul Bellanova delivered an excellent cutback into the box, and Kandto swept a finish into the bottom corner.

Suddenly, Milan’s comfortable advantage had become a slender 3-2 lead.

Atalanta nearly completed their remarkable comeback just two minutes later, but Maignan produced a crucial save to deny substitute Davide Zappacosta.

Despite sustained pressure during stoppage time, Milan defended resolutely to secure all three points.
