First Half: Beraldo Penalty Gives PSG the Advantage

PSG started the encounter with their trademark possession-based football, controlling over 80% of the ball during the opening exchanges. However, turning that dominance into clear-cut opportunities proved difficult.

Lucas Digne saw a free-kick blocked by the defensive wall, while Achraf Hakimi fired across goal from a promising position.

The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 19th minute when VAR identified a handball by Le Mans defender Harold Voyer inside the penalty area.

Lucas Beraldo stepped up and converted the resulting penalty, squeezing it into the bottom corner despite goalkeeper Nicolas Kocik getting close to keeping it out.

Le Mans responded courageously. Louis Mafouta threatened after racing through on goal, only to be denied by Matvey Safonov. Samuel Yohou then wasted a golden opportunity, striking the side netting from close range.

At the opposite end, Kocik produced an outstanding save to deny Dro Fernandez a powerful header that could have doubled PSG’s advantage.

The hosts went into half-time leading 1-0, but the visitors showed enough attacking ambition to keep the contest alive.

Second Half: Le Mans Equalize Before PSG Fight Back

Le Mans emerged after the interval determined to challenge the French champions.

Their persistence paid off when Lucas Calodat delivered an excellent cross, and Mafouta headed it past Safonov.

Although the assistant referee initially ruled the goal out for offside, VAR overturned the decision, confirming that Mafouta had timed his run correctly.

Mafouta’s fourth league goal of the season briefly stunned the Parc des Princes crowd.

However, PSG responded almost immediately.

Substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia made an immediate impact, reacting quickest after Kocik parried Fabian Ruiz’s powerful long-range attempt. The Georgian forward fired home the rebound shortly after the hour mark to restore PSG’s advantage.

The goal decisively shifted momentum back to the hosts.

Akliouche Seals Victory as PSG Survives Late Pressure

As Le Mans pushed forward, PSG exploited the spaces opening up in the visitors’ defense.

Warren Zaire-Emery delivered an excellent pass to release Maghnes Akliouche down the right flank. The attacking midfielder cut inside before beating Kocik with a precise finish at the near post.

The goal extended PSG’s lead to 3-1 and effectively ended Le Mans’ hopes of securing a surprise result.

Nevertheless, Patrick Videira’s men refused to surrender.

Yohou tested Safonov with a powerful header from a corner, while Dame Gueye also attempted to reduce the deficit with a diving header.

PSG had an opportunity to add a fourth goal in stoppage time when Rayan Bamba fouled Lucas Hernandez inside the penalty area. Desire Doue stepped up, but Kocik produced another excellent save to deny the midfielder.

Despite that late disappointment, PSG comfortably protected their two-goal advantage until the final whistle.
