AC Milan 3-2 Torino: Rossoneri Close Gap on Inter in Thrilling Serie A Clash

AC Milan kept their Serie A title hopes alive with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Torino at the San Siro, cutting the gap to leaders Inter Milan to just five points. In a match full of intensity, momentum swings, and late drama, the Rossoneri showed resilience to secure a crucial three points.

Fast Start from Torino, But Milan Strikes First

Torino began the match on the front foot, pressing high and creating early chances. Ardian Ismajli came close with a powerful header, but Milan captain Mike Maignan produced a brilliant save to keep the score level.

Despite Torino’s early dominance, Milan grew into the game as halftime approached. Adrien Rabiot tested Alberto Paleari with a sharp strike before the breakthrough arrived spectacularly. Strahinja Pavlović unleashed a stunning long-range effort that crashed in off the underside of the bar, giving Milan a 1-0 lead.

Torino Responds Before the Break

Torino refused to back down. Duván Zapata nearly equalised but was denied by Maignan in a one-on-one situation.

Their persistence paid off just before halftime. Nikola Vlašić’s long-range shot struck the post, rebounded off Maignan, and fell kindly to Giovanni Simeone, who calmly slotted home to level the score at 1-1.

Milan Take Control After the Break

The second half saw a rejuvenated Milan side take charge. Just nine minutes after the restart, Adrien Rabiot restored the lead, finishing from close range after a well-worked move involving Christian Pulisic.

Moments later, Milan extended their advantage. Youssouf Fofana capitalised on Torino’s defensive lapse, firing home despite Paleari getting a hand to the ball. At 3-1, Milan looked firmly in control.

Late Drama Sets Up Tense Finale

Torino continued to fight and nearly pulled one back when Maignan denied Simeone with another outstanding save.

The game took another twist in the final 10 minutes when VAR awarded Torino a penalty after Pavlović fouled Simeone. Vlašić stepped up and converted confidently, making it 3-2 and setting up a nervy finish.

Despite late pressure from the visitors, Milan held firm to secure a vital win.

What This Means for the Serie A Title Race

The victory lifts AC Milan to second place in Serie A, firmly in the title race and within touching distance of Inter Milan. With a crucial clash against Napoli coming up, momentum is now on the Rossoneri’s side.

For Torino, the defeat extends their poor away form, leaving them 14th in the table and still looking over their shoulder in the relegation battle.
