Simba SC has reclaimed the Tanzanian Premier League top spot after a convincing 3-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons in a one-sided match at KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam this evening.
The victory sees Simba leapfrogging their fierce rivals, Young Africans (Yanga), to take control of the title race.
Simba Takes Advantage of Yanga’s Slip
Before today’s match, Simba SC sat second in the table with 44 points, trailing Yanga by two points.
However, Yanga’s goalless draw against JKT Tanzania at the Major General Isamuyo ground on Monday opened the door for Simba to reclaim the league lead.
With this crucial win, Simba now leads the standings with 47 points from 18 matches, overtaking Yanga, who are now second with 46 points.
First-Half Blitz Secures Victory
Simba wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring all three goals in the first half. The opener came in the 29th minute when attacking midfielder Charles Jean Ahoua connected beautifully with a pass from Shomari Kapombe to put Simba ahead.
Elie Mpanzu doubled the lead in the 45th minute, making it 2-0 just before halftime. The final goal of the match came in stoppage time (45’+3), with Ladak Chasambi sealing the deal for the hosts.
Despite their efforts, Tanzania Prisons failed to mount a comeback in the second half, with Simba controlling possession and seeing out the game comfortably.
Simba’s Redemption After Singida Fountain Gate Draw
This victory marks Simba’s return to the summit after briefly losing the pilot seat following their 1-1 draw with Singida Fountain Gate on February 6.
With Yanga dropping two points in their recent fixture, Simba took full advantage to establish themselves as league leaders once again.

Other League Results
Elsewhere in the Tanzanian Premier League, Mashujaa FC and Coastal Union battled to a goalless draw in a match played at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma.
Looking Ahead
With the title race intensifying, Simba will now focus on maintaining their lead as they prepare for upcoming crucial fixtures. Yanga, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back and reclaim their spot at the top.
