Real Madrid delivered another commanding LaLiga performance, defeating Sevilla 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu to secure their eighth straight home league win and cut Barcelona’s lead to six points. Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Jose Mourinho’s men maintained their title ambitions ahead of the highly anticipated El Clasico.
Real Madrid vs Sevilla: Match Highlights
Fresh from their thrilling 4-3 UEFA Champions League comeback against Roma, Real Madrid returned to domestic action determined to keep pace with Barcelona.
Sevilla arrived hoping to disrupt Madrid’s momentum, but the hosts demonstrated their attacking quality in a convincing victory featuring four goals and an impressive performance from Yan Diomande.
Arda Guler and Mbappe Put Madrid in Control
Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 30th minute through a moment of brilliance from Arda Guler.
Jude Bellingham initiated the move with a superb pass to Yan Diomande, who found Guler in space. The Turkish youngster produced a delightful looping finish over Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos to give Madrid a deserved lead.
Seven minutes later, Kylian Mbappe doubled the advantage.
Bellingham delivered an exquisite backheel into Mbappe’s path, letting him showcase his exceptional footwork before finishing from close range.
Sevilla struggled to respond, although Thibaut Courtois produced an excellent one-handed save to deny Lucien Agoume before halftime.
Madrid went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Mbappe’s Panenka Extends Madrid’s Lead
Sevilla started the second half with greater attacking ambition, but Real Madrid quickly strengthened their lead.
Diomande played Mbappe through on goal before Castrin clipped the striker’s heels inside the penalty area.
Referee Mateo Busquets awarded a penalty, and Mbappe confidently slotted home a Panenka to complete his brace and extend Madrid’s lead to 3-0.
Sevilla refused to surrender. Youssouf Fofana tested Courtois with a powerful effort before Manuel Bueno eventually reduced the deficit.
Bueno capitalized on defensive hesitation to fire a clinical left-footed strike past the Belgian goalkeeper.
However, any hopes of a Sevilla comeback disappeared almost immediately.
Just two minutes later, Diomande completed his outstanding performance with a thunderous finish, restoring Madrid’s three-goal cushion and sealing a convincing 4-1 victory.
