First-Half Blitz Puts Inter Milan in Control
Inter Milan wasted little time asserting their dominance, pressing Parma aggressively and capitalizing on defensive mistakes.
The breakthrough arrived in the 13th minute when Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi attempted to play out from the back. His pass towards Mandela Keita proved costly as Petar Sucic intercepted possession near the penalty area before unleashing a powerful effort that struck the post and flew into the net.
Just five minutes later, Parma’s problems worsened.
Defender Diego Carlos brought down Pio Esposito inside the penalty area, prompting a VAR review. After consulting the pitchside monitor, the referee awarded Inter a penalty.
Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu confidently converted from the spot, slotting it into the bottom-left corner to register his third Serie A goal of the campaign.
Inter was far from finished.
In the 30th minute, Henrikh Mkhitaryan delivered an excellent through ball to Marcus Thuram, who raced into the penalty area and calmly slotted his finish across Corvi into the far corner.
With three goals inside half an hour, the defending champions had effectively taken the contest beyond Parma’s reach.
Parma Struggle as Inter Dominate the Second Half
Despite holding a comfortable advantage, Inter returned after halftime determined to extend their lead.
Thuram continued to trouble Parma’s defense, creating an opportunity for Federico Dimarco down the flank. The Italian defender delivered a dangerous low ball towards Esposito, whose close-range effort was brilliantly blocked by Corvi’s feet.
Parma struggled to establish any meaningful attacking rhythm throughout the encounter.
One of their few chances fell to Mariano Troilo, but his header sailed high and wide, reflecting a frustrating evening for the visitors.
Inter maintained possession, controlled the tempo and comfortably protected their three-goal advantage until the final whistle.
