Valentín Barco scored in the 80th minute to restore the Blues’ two-goal cushion before Welbeck struck again deep into stoppage time, converting Barco’s assist to seal a remarkable 6-3 victory.
The result completed a breathtaking second half in which Chelsea scored all six of their goals.
Palmer and Rogers Transform the Contest
Alonso’s half-time decisions proved decisive. Palmer needed only nine minutes after coming on to score twice, while Rogers directly created three consecutive Chelsea goals.
Neto also made an immediate impact with Chelsea’s third, while Welbeck’s brace helped put the contest beyond Leeds.
