2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern twice took the lead through Konrad Laimer and Dayot Upamecano, but Dortmund responded with goals from Serhou Guirassy and substitute Fabio Silva. Harry Kane experienced a mixed evening after assisting Upamecano’s goal but missing a penalty that could have given Bayern a decisive advantage.

The result leaves Bayern and Dortmund level on 18 points after eight matches, with the defending champions remaining top because of their superior goal difference. Both teams also preserved their unbeaten Bundesliga records.

Jobe Bellingham’s Goal Ruled Out

Bayern controlled much of the early possession, with Michael Olise striking the post after only 10 minutes. However, Dortmund remained dangerous when they recovered the ball and thought they had opened the scoring in the 34th minute.

Jobe Bellingham converted after Dortmund capitalised on a defensive mistake, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review. Carney Chukwuemeka was judged to have fouled Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig during the build-up.

The decision represented a significant escape for Bayern, and the home side quickly punished Dortmund at the opposite end.

Konrad Laimer Gives Bayern the Lead

Bayern broke the deadlock in the 38th minute after Olise intercepted a loose pass and released Laimer.

Gregor Kobel saved the Austrian’s first effort, but Laimer reacted quickly to convert the rebound and give Bayern a 1-0 lead. It was his first Bundesliga goal of the season and rewarded Bayern for their first-half pressure.

Dortmund entered the interval behind despite having seen Bellingham’s effort ruled out. The visitors needed to become more aggressive after the restart—and that was exactly what they did.

Harry Kane Misses From the Penalty Spot

Bayern received a major opportunity to double their advantage in the 56th minute when Felix Nmecha handled Kane’s shot inside the penalty area.

Kane, who had been honoured before kick-off following his Ballon d’Or triumph, stepped forward to take the penalty. However, his powerful effort struck the crossbar and stayed out.

It was only Kane’s second miss from 27 Bundesliga penalties, and Dortmund needed just four minutes to punish him.

Chukwuemeka delivered a low pass into the penalty area for Guirassy, who finished confidently past Urbig to make it 1-1 in the 60th minute.

Upamecano Restores Bayern’s Advantage

Dortmund’s equaliser did not last long. Six minutes later, Joshua Kimmich delivered a cross towards the back post, where Kane headed the ball back across goal.

Upamecano arrived inside the six-yard box and converted from close range to put Bayern ahead again. Although Kane had failed to score from the penalty spot, his intelligent assist appeared to have made up for the miss.

The Bayern striker later went close to adding a third goal, but Dortmund remained within touching distance and continued searching for another equaliser.

Fabio Silva’s Dramatic Late Equaliser

Dortmund coach Niko Kovač introduced Fabio Silva during the second half, and the substitute produced the decisive moment in the 89th minute.

Konstantinos Karetsas blocked Aleksandar Pavlović’s attempted clearance, allowing Silva to collect the loose ball. The Portuguese forward turned before drilling a low shot into the far corner, sparking wild celebrations among Dortmund’s travelling supporters.

Bayern almost responded immediately when Lennart Karl struck the crossbar with the final opportunity of the match, but Dortmund survived to claim a valuable point.

Injury Concerns Increase for Bayern Munich

The dropped points were not Bayern’s only concern. Ismaël Saibari and Serge Gnabry were both forced off during the first half, while Olise left the pitch with an apparent injury late in the match.

Saibari reportedly departed the stadium on crutches following his collision with Kobel. Gnabry and Olise appeared to suffer muscle-related problems, although the full severity of the three injuries remained uncertain after the game.

The injuries could become a significant issue for Bayern as they prepare for a busy period of Bundesliga and European fixtures.

What the Draw Means for the Bundesliga Title Race

The 2-2 outcome ensures that nothing separates the two German giants on points after eight matches.

Bayern remain first on goal difference, but Dortmund have demonstrated that they possess the resilience required to challenge for the title. Coming from behind twice at the Allianz Arena—particularly after Bayern missed opportunities to finish the contest—will give Kovač’s team plenty of confidence.

For Bayern, the result will feel like two points dropped. Kane’s penalty miss, several efforts against the woodwork and Silva’s late goal prevented the champions from establishing a three-point advantage at the top.
