Vladimír Coufal’s own goal opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Kane found the net in the 40th and 57th minutes. The victory gave Thomas Tuchel’s side a third consecutive win after their opening defeat to Spain and took England another major step towards the Nations League quarter-finals.

It was also a historic evening for Kane, who made his 125th England appearance and moved level with former goalkeeper Peter Shilton at the top of the country’s men’s international appearance rankings.

The England captain celebrated the milestone by scoring his 90th and 91st international goals—and influencing all three goals in a commanding team performance.

Coufal Own Goal Gives England the Lead

England controlled possession from the opening stages as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jude Bellingham and Elliot Anderson dictated the tempo.

Alexander-Arnold almost opened the scoring with a well-struck free-kick from approximately 25 yards, but Czechia goalkeeper Lukáš Horníček produced an excellent save to push the ball around the post.

Morgan Rogers then sent a volley wide after receiving a cross-field pass from Bellingham as England continued to search for the breakthrough.

The opening goal arrived in the 27th minute—and Kane was heavily involved.

The captain moved into space on the right before driving a dangerous low cross across the penalty area. Under pressure and facing his own goal, Coufal attempted to intercept the delivery but instead turned the ball beyond Horníček.

Although officially recorded as an own goal, Kane’s movement and delivery created the danger that gave England a deserved 1-0 lead.

Harry Kane Finishes Brilliant England Move

England doubled their advantage five minutes before half-time with a beautifully constructed team goal.

Anderson lifted a precise pass over the Czechia defence towards Rogers, whose first-time cross found Kane unmarked inside the penalty area. The striker made no mistake, calmly directing the ball into the net for his 90th England goal.

The combination of Anderson’s vision, Rogers’ delivery and Kane’s movement demonstrated the attacking fluency England produced throughout the match.

Kane later praised the move, describing the combination between Anderson and Rogers as the type of opportunity every striker waits to receive.

The goal gave England a comfortable 2-0 advantage at half-time and left Czechia facing a difficult challenge at Wembley.

Kane Completes His Brace After Half-Time

Kane remained hungry for more after the restart.

He nearly scored a spectacular second when his powerful effort from outside the penalty area clipped the top of the crossbar. Czechia’s defence received only a temporary escape.

In the 57th minute, England won a corner after Bellingham’s clever flick was stopped by Horníček. Lewis Hall delivered the resulting set-piece towards the far post, where Kane rose above his marker and powered a downward header into the bottom corner.

The goal completed Kane’s brace and extended England’s lead to 3-0.

Tuchel eventually replaced his captain in the 82nd minute, allowing the 78,000 supporters inside Wembley to give Kane a standing ovation following another record-breaking performance.

Back-to-Back Braces for England’s Captain

Kane’s two goals against Czechia came only days after he scored twice in England’s remarkable 7-0 victory over Croatia.

His output during the international window was exceptional:

-

- One goal against Spain

- One goal away against Czechia

- Two goals against Croatia

- Two goals against Czechia at Wembley

That is six goals across four Nations League matches, including braces in consecutive appearances.

UEFA statistics confirm Kane is now the leading scorer in the 2026/27 Nations League with six goals. He sits two goals ahead of Viktor Gyökeres, Michael Olise, Troy Parrott, Leo Walta and Lamine Yamal.

Kane has also registered 12 goals and three assists in his first 11 appearances of the season across club and international football. His combination of goalscoring, creativity and leadership has strengthened the argument that he should be considered among the leading candidates for the Ballon d’Or.

Harry Kane Reaches 91 England Goals

Kane’s international record now stands at an extraordinary 91 goals from 125 senior appearances.

Already England’s all-time leading scorer, he is now only nine goals away from becoming the first player to score 100 goals for the Three Lions.

His 125th appearance also placed him level with Shilton’s longstanding men’s record. Kane could move ahead of the legendary goalkeeper when England play their next Nations League fixture.

Reaching the appearance record while scoring twice made the evening particularly memorable.

“It was the perfect night for me personally and also the team,” Kane said after the match. “For me, just an extremely proud evening.”

England Record Third Consecutive Victory

England began their Nations League campaign with a narrow 3-2 defeat to Spain, but Tuchel’s side responded impressively.

The Three Lions have since beaten Czechia twice and recorded a dominant victory over Croatia:

-

- England 2-3 Spain

- Czechia 0-2 England

- Croatia 0-7 England

- England 3-0 Czechia

England have therefore won three successive matches, scoring 12 goals and conceding none during that run.

Their latest victory moved them to nine points in League A Group A3 and placed them firmly on course for the quarter-finals. Spain remain ahead after maintaining their perfect record, while Czechia are bottom of the group without a point.

England’s Attack Continues to Improve

Although Kane claimed the headlines, England’s overall attacking display offered Tuchel plenty of encouragement.

Rogers provided the assist for Kane’s first goal, while Hall created the second with an accurate corner. Anderson impressed with his passing from midfield, and Alexander-Arnold repeatedly threatened Czechia with his deliveries and forward movement.

Bellingham also found space between the defensive lines and nearly scored with an inventive second-half flick.

England’s control allowed Tuchel to introduce several players from the bench without affecting the team’s rhythm. The competition for places should increase further ahead of England’s remaining Nations League matches and the build-up to UEFA Euro 2028.

Is Harry Kane a Ballon d’Or Contender?

Kane’s Ballon d’Or case is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

The England striker offers much more than penalty-box finishing. His ability to drop into midfield, create opportunities, hold up possession and organise the attack makes him central to both club and country.

Against Czechia, Kane forced the opening own goal, scored twice and led England to another decisive victory. His 12 goals and three assists from 11 matches this season underline the consistency of his production.

Tuchel has publicly supported Kane’s Ballon d’Or credentials, while Bellingham has described the captain as one of England’s greatest-ever players.

Major trophies and performances in decisive matches will ultimately influence the voting, but Kane is ensuring his name remains firmly in the conversation.
