Paris Saint-Germain delivered a stunning UEFA Champions League performance, defeating Barcelona 4-2 at the Parc des Princes to extend their unbeaten European run to 13 matches and end the Catalan giants’ perfect start to the 2026/27 season.
In a breathtaking six-goal encounter with dramatic equalizers and outstanding individual performances, PSG showed why they remain among Europe’s strongest contenders. Goals from Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz secured maximum points for the French champions.
For Kenyan football fans following the UEFA Champions League, this was another unforgettable European showdown packed with attacking brilliance and late drama.
PSG Dominate First Half as Doué Breaks Deadlock
PSG wasted no time asserting their authority, launching relentless attacks against a Barcelona defense that struggled to settle.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck the woodwork early, while Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué tested Barcelona goalkeeper Joan GarcÃa within the opening five minutes.
Barcelona’s nervous start showed as they surrendered possession 15 times in the first 10 minutes.
Despite Dembélé suffering a suspected hamstring injury and being replaced by Ferran Torres, PSG maintained their attacking momentum.
GarcÃa made several outstanding saves to deny Torres and Fabián Ruiz, but his resistance eventually broke when Doué fired a powerful low shot into the bottom corner just before halftime.
Barcelona nearly responded immediately, but FermÃn López wasted a golden opportunity after being released by Pedri.
Barcelona Fight Back Through Xavi Espart
The second half saw renewed determination from Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, who began to control possession and create chances.
Their persistence paid off when Champions League debutant Xavi Espart produced a remarkable solo run before beating Matvey Safonov to level the score at 1-1.
With PSG losing Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos to injury, Barcelona looked increasingly confident they could complete a comeback.
However, the hosts refused to surrender.
Hernández, Yamal and Vitinha Deliver Late Drama
The final 20 minutes produced an extraordinary goal-scoring sequence.
Ferran Torres struck the post from close range before Lucas Hernández headed PSG back into the lead from the resulting corner.
Barcelona responded through teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, who outpaced Warren Zaïre-Emery and squeezed an impressive finish past Safonov from an extremely tight angle.
But the celebrations were short-lived.
Two minutes later, Vitinha unleashed a powerful strike from outside the penalty area to restore PSG’s advantage at 3-2.
Fabián Ruiz then added a late fourth goal, sealing a memorable 4-2 victory and ending Barcelona’s hopes of maintaining their unbeaten start.
